Getting into Greece – Zakynthos – Part 2

The remainder of our Greek break was all rain and gloom. I’m drawing now of my previous experiences of the beautiful Idyll that is Zakynthos.

One of my absolute favourite places on the Island is St. Nicholas Beach. This little hub on the south east point of the Island is known for its water sports. In the height of summer there is constant jet skiing, canoes, pedalos and paragliding.

Don’t think for one second I entertained the idea of participating in anything so extreme.

St Nicks, for me, i the home of my all time favourite swim. The swimming side is very shallow and very vast and, in the summer, like a luke warm bath. It is my favourite place to just bob about and enjoy being alive.

There is a bar on site serving all your favourite  drinks and, although there is a charge for the sun-loungers (not uncommon), it is very affordable.


For the more adventurous types, the jetskiing LOOKS fun. I’m more the floating-by-life kinda girl but my 80 year old father in law went on the jetski, so…

At the beginning of May I found myself back in Zakynthos (or Zante as it is commonly known). This marked my third time to the Island and my husbands billionth (or so it seems). This trip was a family affair with two young adults and an 81 year old Grandfather accompanying us. We were all set for 6 days of sun and scenery and amazing Greek food. Let’s just say two out of three aint bad. We arrived early afternoon on Easter Sunday. We anticipated it to be quiet, after our recent trip to Kefalonia, where we discovered nothing happens until after Easter in the Islands. We weren’t wrong, there was absolutely nothing open, which was fine as it was a major religious holiday and pretty much everyone was roasting lamb in the front gardens. We stay in the Kaminia Villas  which is a set of three 2BR villas just outside of the village of Lithakia. It’s lovely there with everything you would want or need. And so, so quiet. That evening we dined at Taverna Vardiola, as it was nearby and open.

End Of Year Round-Up

Well as 2016 comes to a close (a lot of us very thankful for that) I’d like to take the time to recap a few important events and announcements. The winners of the Goodreads competition were Emily T from Connecticut, USA and Diane N from Ontario, CA! Congrats ladies and I look forward to hearing your feedback soon. There will be another competition after the official release of ‘Heart’ which is January 6, 2017. My Official Top 100 Countdown results are now available. The Countdown covers everything from music, film, TV, books and celebs. You can view the results here. This year has been bittersweet, with me losing my beloved cat Cookie in January and then getting my book signed to a publisher in February. I’ve travelled to many beautiful places and got to see my best friend marry her long-time love. The momentum of Heart has been great and it’s crazy to think that it will be available to buy in two weeks!!! Thank you to those who follow this blog and/or my social media page

Rediscovering Andalucia

I first visited Spain, Andalucia to be precise in September 2011. Our adventures included Tarifa, Vejer de la fronterra, Cadiz, Seville & Chipiona. We had a blast and were keen to had back. This didn't happen for us until March 2014 after we passed up a trip to Rome & Venice in Italy. We had been tying with the idea of buying property in Spain after many episodes of Rick Stein's Spain and "A place in the sun". We particularly liked the idea of the Granada province after reading Chris Stewart' s series about life in the Alpujarras.   We did some research and found a few properties worth a look in  thee Baza region of the Granada province. We arrived into Malaga and drove straight to Lanjaron after reading about it again in Chris Stewart. Lanjaron is a lovely town and almost all the stores/restaurants we entered were Espanol only. We dined in a lovely quiet place where the only communication we had was for the waitress to tell us the wine we had chosen
