Chasing Leaves In Heaven
Today I lost a piece of me. My partner in crime, my best friend. My beautiful baby cat, Cookie. We adopted Cookie in 2012 from Bluebell Ridge Cattery and I fell in love instantly. She was listed as 11 years old but that was just a guess and we never did find out her real age. So, just two weeks after her appointed 15th Birthday, Cookie went to heaven. She had been acting odd, sleeping more, toileting inside and vomiting since Christmas and on Saturday she exhibited signs of being in extreme pain. Sunday night she seemed ok, albeit a little sleepy and by Monday when we could take her to the Vet she had swollen on both sides of her abdomen. The vet advised she had late stage liver cancer and that there was, unfortunately, nothing that could be done to cure her. I had to make the extremely difficult and heartbreaking decision to put her to sleep. Cookie was a lovely girl, so loyal and loving. She was quiet and never once chased or caught anything living. She was a leafer.
