Navigating NYC - Day 3

Day 3 was Easter Sunday so we set out early after a rather modest breakfast at 810 Deli on 7th Avenue. This is a less busy, less pricey Deli but amazing food.

Today we were riding the Uptown Tour and planned to walk back through Central Park.  The tour started up near the Time Warner Buildings and proceeded up Central Park West via the National History Museum, recognisable from the ‘Night at the Museum’ Films with Ben Stiller.

We went through the beautiful campus of Columbia University and had a great view of New Jersey across the water. The tour proceeded on through Harlem and this was really cool as it was Easter Sunday Morning and lots of folk were out at Church.

The tour went back down the other side of Central Park and we got off at the MET because I wanted to see where Blair Waldorf ate her lunch.

We walked slowly back through Central Park, taking it all in. Central Park is absolutely beautiful and my favourite thing about NYC. All I wanted to do was spend a day in there reading a book, but short on time I filed that wish away for next time.

We lunched at a South African restaurant called Braii on W 51st. It wasn’t busy and the food was very nice. It was of what I was learning as ‘normal NYC price’. I bee-lined for the Snapper (my favourite fish) and there was calamari consumed and a moderate amount of Mourvèdre.

After our afternoon nap, we headed out on the Night Tour part of our Gray Line ticket. this was basically the Downtown/Brooklyn tour, but, you guessed it, at night.

We just relaxed on this tour and took in the beautiful city at night. We had our first rain and were pleased to be undercover as most of the buses are open topped but we nabbed the covered seats at the front.

We were hungry after the tour and couldn’t decide where t go. We ended up at Rosie O’Grady’s a ‘Steak and Seafood’ restaurant next to our hotel. I wasn’t too pleased with the menu but my travel-buddies had the steak, which one of them declared the ‘#beststeakever’. I had a fish thing which wasn’t very good. So much so that I cannot even recall what it was!!

We were knackered though after yet another full-day so off to bed we went before 11pm!!
